EVENTS

We have several events throughout the year to help us share Joy with our community. Stay tuned to our home page and social media for updates on events going on throughout the year.

Golf for Joy:

Our biggest fundraising event is Golf for Joy, our annual golf tournament held on the last Saturday in June. The event started in 1995 and was the beginning of what the MJB Foundation has become today. Golf for Joy is a day for everyone to get together to share Joy, play some golf and have a great time! The game format is a scramble so you can register yourself or a whole team. There are skill prizes and extra games scattered throughout the course for a little extra fun. When all the teams get through the course, we meet back up to celebrate a great day with dinner, raffle, silent auction, and the announcement of all winners! The winning team is awarded with the 'coveted' green jackets and championship mugs.

Next year we will be celebrating the 30th Golf for Joy! We hope to make it our biggest one yet, so mark your calendars for June 26, 2027!

Bowl for Joy:

The MJB Foundation’s winter Fundraiser is Bowl for Joy, added in 2010. It is traditionally held on a Saturday in February. Though not as big of a production as Golf for Joy, Bowl for Joy is still quite popular as its more accessible to various ages. Attendees come as an individual or get a team of 2-5 together for a fun-filled day of bowling. The day includes 3 hours of bowling, shoe rental, and one pizza and pitcher of pop per team. There is also a raffle and prizes awarded at the end of the event! Our first Bowl for Joy raised about $1,200 in spite of Snowpocalypse 2010. Bowl for Joy 2013 was our most successful ever raising almost $3,000. We are amazed and thankful for everyone’s support and generosity!

Virtual Joy:

The 26th Annual Golf for Joy was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. This was the first time in 26 years that we could not have an in-person gathering, but we did not let that stop us from raising funds to support children with challenges who are still in need during difficult times. We came up with an idea for a special event that we named Virtual Joy. We held a virtual event based around the Masters Tournament, allowing us to continue the theme of our usual golf outing that we missed out on. Anyone who made a donation or paid the registration fee was included in a random drawing to be “paired up” with a golfer playing in the Masters. Then all we had to do was sit back, watch some great golf and cheer on our players.

We couldn't believe that we raised over $3,300 through the amazing support of our online community in 2020. After the success of the first Virtual Joy it has continued to be a positive alternative event for us, returning again in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

Toss for Joy:

From 2014-2016, we hosted a fall cornhole tournament called Toss for Joy. The proceeds from Toss for Joy benefited children on the autism spectrum. Attendees came as individuals or pairs to participate. The teams played in bracket-style competition until one pair was announced the winner! There was also a raffle, bounce house and face painting making it a fun day for people of all ages to share Joy. Don't know what cornhole is? You can read a description of it here.

Sing for Joy:

In 2013 and 2014, with the help of friends of the foundation, we held a charity event called Sing for Joy. It took place in a local coffee shop. People gathered to listen to music and enjoy a wonderful atmosphere together while drinking coffee. Donations were accepted and all proceeds went to the foundation. We have no plans for another Sing for Joy at the moment but we're open to trying more unique events like this in the future!
